Ameesha Patel owns luxury bags worth crores, has a collection of 300-400 bags: ‘If not for them, I would own a Mumbai penthouse’

Ameesha Patel’s wardrobe full of Birkin bags

Farah then pointed towards a cupboard and said, “This cupboard is filled with Ameesha’s Birkin bags.” One of the most exclusive brands in the world, a Birkin bag can cost anything upto Rs 2-3 crore.

The actor has an organised list stuck inside the cupboard, detailing the bags shelf-wise. One of the lists read: “Shelf 7: Hermes Yellow Evelyn, Hermes Baby Pink Evelyn, Hermes Fuschia Pink Evelyn, Hermes Orange Evelyn, Hermes Powder Blue Evelyn, Hermes Mini Red Evelyn, Hermes Mini White Evelyn, Dior Denim Saddle Bag, Fendi Phone Case, LV Phone Case.”

The actress then picked a Saint Laurent bag, removing it from its storage cover to show Farah.

The filmmaker went into awe as she saw it and sighed, “This is a bag I have wanted for so long ever and ever but it is…” and made a face suggesting she couldn’t afford it.

‘If not for bags, I could have owned a penthouse’

They next picked a bag from Bottega Veneta. Unpacking it, Farah explained to viewers, “This is one of the most expensive brands in the world: Bottega Veneta.” She pulled out an orange bag and said, “This is a rare one I am seeing.” Ameesha added, “This is a little traditional colour.” Farah admitted, “Yeah, exactly why I have never even seen it.” Ameesha then showed another bag of the same brand and design, but in black. “This is a little classic, this is Black,” she said.

Ameesha joked, “If I didn’t have a habit of collecting bags, I would have been owning a penthouse in Mumbai,” hinting at how expensive her collection is.

She then showed another Bottega Veneta bag. Looking at it, Farah joked, “I think you should marry Karan Johar.” Ameesha replied, “I think so too. Anyways, both of us want to be single so it is an ideal relationship.”

‘People say you can carry veggies in this bag’. Its cost: Rs 5.8 lakh

Showing off her Andiamo Large Tote, Ameesha introduced it while Farah called it “gorgeous” and joked, “Don’t show this to Dilip, he will simply use it to buy vegetables.”

Ameesha then shared how people make fun of her for carrying such large bags. “They say, ‘These bags are bigger and heavier than you so you use it for veggies only,’” she laughed. Farah agreed, “This is very heavy.” Ameesha replied, “Yeah, and it gets heavier when I add stuff in it.” This bag costs over ₹5,80,000.

Ameesha Patel’s shoe collection

Farah then explored Ameesha’s shoe collection. Showing a cupboard full of fancy pairs, Ameesha said, “These are a few of my night-out shoes.” Farah reacted with shock, “A few?”

Ameesha had arranged them by colour, with reds grouped together, golds in another section, followed by blues, greens, silvers, and more. These shoes are from Gucci and Louis Vuitton. Farah joked, “You can use these shoes to murder anyone.” Ameesha laughed, “These are my defence weapons. If anyone ever enters my house to steal things, I can hit them with these shoes.”

Each shoe costs between ₹80,000 to over a lakh. The actress owns hundreds of pairs.

Farah quipped, “Whoever enters this house for robbery will only aim for the shoes.”

After the shoe tour, Ameesha showed her books. “I love to read. I finish a book in three days. But I don’t collect them, I pass them on because I believe knowledge should be shared,” she said. Farah joked, “Why don’t you do the same with your shoes and bags, just pass them on… you will find me outside your house every day.” Ameesha laughed.

There are several cupboards in Ameesha’s house just to store her designer bags.

Farah then pointed to another such cupboard. “I want to tell you all that there are two more cupboards here, in which Ameesha has stored more of her designer bags,” she said.

She randomly picked one and unpacked it. “Dior,” she exclaimed. Ameesha shared details about the red and yellow Dior bag: “This is again a limited edition with the tri-colour (red, yellow, and blue).” Farah confirmed, “These are the bags you do not find anymore.” Ameesha added, “Yes. Ninety percent of my bags are not classic ones that everyone has. I have a few basics for everyday, but mostly I own limited editions.”

Farah curiously asked, “How do you know these are limited editions? Do they call you when they launch?” Ameesha replied, “Every designer is aware that I am a collector, so they call me up and inform me when a bag is launched in India. Even when I travel to Dubai, Paris, London, the shopkeepers know me. Their associates know me.”

Farah laughed, “Yeah, and we are known by the vegetable vendors here.”

Ameesha then revealed an entire cupboard dedicated to her Chanel bags. These start at ₹5 lakh and can go into tens of lakhs depending on design and collection.

Farah joked, “I am going to stand outside your house every day.” She then pointed to one Chanel bag in a white cover and said, “Now I want to see what you have in this white bag.” Ameesha revealed, “This is a patent one with silver.” Farah asked, “How many times have you used this bag?” Ameesha smiled silently. Farah guessed, “Never?” Ameesha replied, “No, I have.” When asked when, she admitted, “I just used it last June.” Farah quipped, “See, just once because she owns 365 bags.” Ameesha laughed, “Yeah, I get to use them once a year, because I use them in rotation.” Farah added, “And then you have 365 clutches for the night.”

When Farah asked about clutches, Ameesha opened drawers filled with belt bags and clutches, prompting Farah to exclaim, “Oh, baba!”

Ameesha then showcased her rare Birkin bags in powder blue and orange. Farah hugged one and said, “Hugging this feels better than hugging any boyfriend.” Ameesha joked, “Why do you think I have bags and no boys.”

She added, “If Farah signs me in her next film, she is going to get this bag as her signing amount. I am bribing her.”

Pointing at another favourite, Ameesha said, “As everyone knows, pink is my favourite colour. This is a croc Birkin, and it is in pink. It’s actually made of croc leather. When I got this about 15 years ago, it was lighter pink, but leather changes colour over the years. The change makes it even rarer.”

Farah asked, “Where do you use these bags?” Ameesha shared, “When I travelled to Paris, London, and Amsterdam for my birthday last month, I carried this bag.”

She added, “There, I bought yet another bag for myself as my birthday gift. My friends have spoilt me too—they know the best gift they can get me is a handbag.”

Previously, speaking with Bollywood Hungama, Ameesha had shared her luxury collection. Pointing at the croc Birkin, she said, “This bag is a Birkin and a croc, and its price now is about ₹60–70 lakh.”

Pointing towards another cupboard, Ameesha revealed, “This cupboard is filled with Birkins of different shades and sizes.”

Her collection also includes pieces from Prada, Gucci, and Louis Vuitton, among others.
