Ameesha Patel felt ‘cheated’ by Anil Sharma when he changed Gadar 2 climax without her knowledge, lays down conditions for doing Gadar 3

In a recent interview, Ameesha Patel opened up about her creative differences with director Anil Sharma over the climax scene of their 2023 film Gadar 2.

Actor Ameesha Patel and filmmaker Anil Sharma’s war of words has been going on since the release of their 2023 film Gadar 2, also starring Sunny Deol. It all started when the actor voiced certain reservations that she had about the way her character was presented in the film. Earlier, Ameesha had also revealed that Anil changed the climax of Gadar 2 without her knowledge, thereby reducing the pivotal role that she was verbally promised. In a recent interview, she opened up about their creative differences, and revealed her conditions for signing a potential Gadar 3.

In a conversation on the YouTube channel Jarp, Ameesha was asked if the climax statement was true. She responded, “Yes, that was true. I was promised and narrated that I would be killing the villain in the climax. There was creative stress between us, because the climax was shot without my knowledge. If you noticed, even Sunny didn’t kill anyone. It was just a random climax, unfortunately.”

She emphasised that it was her character Sakeena’s right to kill the villain, and that she was hurt because of Anil Sharma’s actions. “Including Sunny, everyone was happy if Sakeena would have killed the villain, because it would have been her revenge logical. She had to avenge her father’s hanging. Anyway, that’s in the past, let bygones be bygones. I know Anil Sharma has a soft spot for me. I have known him for 24-25 years. He will always be family. But, of course, you get hurt and you feel cheated, but then you get over it and move on in life,” the actor added.

She said that she would ‘absolutely’ want to be a part of Gadar 3, but has some conditions. “The film has to revolve around Tara and Sakeena. And this time, there shouldn’t be faith by word of mouth, it should all be contractual. It’s something that I overlooked the first time during Gadar 2,” Ameesha continued, and added, “I felt ki rishta hai pehle se and everyone will do what’s best for the film, there won’t be any other motives or whatever. As long as everything is sorted on pen and paper and you sit in front of each other maturely with differences kept aside, I am absolutely fine.”

Gadar 2 was a massive commercial success. It was one of the highest-grossing films of 2023. Along with Sunny Deol and Ameesha Patel, the film also featured Utkarsh Sharma and Simrat Kaur in pivotal roles.
