Sky Force is all set to make its OTT presence felt, as the Akshay Kumar and Veer Pahariya starrer is releasing on Prime Video on March 21. The movie was released in theatres on January 24 and has amassed a nett collection in India of Rs 112.75 crore till now. Talking about the critical reception the film received, IMDb has rated the film 7/10, and Rotten Tomatoes has given the film a score of 79%.
Directed by debutants Sandeep Kewlani and Abhishek Kapur, the cast of the film also includes Sara Ali Khan, Nimrat Kaur, Rajat Kaul, Varun Badola and more. Music for the film has been composed by Tanishk Baagchi and the background score has been done by Justin Varghese.
Sky Force follows the story of an IAF pilot lost behind enemy lines and the struggles of his wing commander to bring him back. Akshay Kumar plays the role of Kumar Om Ahuja, which is based on the actual wing commander Om Prakash Taneja, while Veer Pahariya plays T. Krishna Vijaya (Tabby), which is based on Ajjamada Boppayya Devayya MVC.
Pahariya took to his Instagram and posted a video of him dancing in a studio to the song Rang from the movie, alongside Bollywood choreographer Ganesh Acharyaa. The caption of the post read, “My first ever dance reel with the man, the legend, @ganeshacharyaa Masterji, who made me fall in love with Bollywood dance as a little kid and sold the dream to me. Thank you for doing this with me. Love you.”
The SCREEN review of Sky Force gave it 2.5 stars. “The film, however, doesn’t do enough justice to this tale of unwavering courage in the face of certain death. Chiefly because the brave pilot T Vijaya (real name AB Devayya) played by debutant Veer Pahariya, who should rightfully have led this tale, consistently plays second fiddle to the film’s lead, which is, of course, Akshay Kumar,” it said.
