Ajay Devgn is ‘proud’ of son Yug as he steps into movies with Karate Kid Legends’ dubbing: ‘Didn’t talk about the process, told him to be confident’
Both Ajay Devgn and Yug Devgn will lend their voice to the hindi dub of the latest Karate Kid, with Ajay voicing Jackie Chan's character and Yug voicing the protagonist played by Ben Wang.

Ajay Devgn has been in the movies for over 30 years and now, his son, Yug, is slowly making his way in the movies. The 14-year-old will soon be heard in the film Karate Kid: Legends, where he has dubbed the Hindi version, along with his father. At the trailer launch of the film in Mumbai, Ajay and Yug made a joint appearance as Yug spoke about his father being his inspiration, and Ajay expressed he was “very proud” of his son.
This was Yug’s first interaction with the media and Ajay spoke about his son’s skills proudly. “I didn’t talk to him about any of the dubbing process; I just told him to be confident and go ahead. I feel very proud, and I remember that when he was rehearsing, the very first day I got a call from the studio that they wanted to keep a few of his recordings to use in the film because they were very good. He even called me up after taking the required permission and made me hear the dialogues he had recorded,” Ajay shared.
Yug also spoke about his father and said that he was the reason behind him taking up this project. “I actually got inspired by him (Ajay) because he has always done so well, and all of you know that. I love him, and he is the reason I am doing this,” he said. He also revealed that Ajay trains him whenever they go to the gym together and he takes after his father when it comes to fitness.
Ajay and Yug shared that they were huge fans of the Karate Kid franchise and how much they enjoyed lending their voice to the characters. Ajay shared he has always been a “fan of Jackie Chan” and said, “I have been following since the first film, and I loved all of them, even the series Cobra Kai.” Yug concurred with his father and said that maybe the reason why this job felt so natural was because he had been so consumed within the world of this franchise.
This isn’t the first time a father-son duo has dubbed for a Hollywood movie. Previously, Shah Rukh Khan dubbed with his son Aryan Khan for The Lion King in 2019. For 2024’s Mufasa: The Lion King, he dubbed with both his sons, Aryan and AbRam. At the time, Shah Rukh shared in a video with Disney Films India, “Both of them were very patient while working, and honestly, I wasn’t sure if they would actually display this level of patience at their age. But both of them prepared a lot for the project. They properly took time to learn their Hindi lines.” Apart from The Lion King, SRK previously worked with Aryan in 2004’s The Incredibles as well.
Karate Kid: Legends will be releasing in India on May 30, starring Jackie Chan, Ben Wang and Ralph Macchio.
