Ajay Devgn, Anushka Sharma, Javed Akhtar bid emotional goodbye to Pamela Chopra: ‘She was a great lady’

As YRF announced the death of Pamela Chopra, celebs like Javed Akhtar, Ajay Devgn, Anil Sharma, Shruti Seth took to social media to pay tribute.

Wife of late filmmaker Yash Chopra, Pamela Chopra passed away on Thursday at the age of 74. She was the mother of YRF head Aditya Chopra and actor Uday Chopra, and has been an active part of the production company. Pamela was on ventilator in Lilavati hospital for 15 days after she was detected with pneumonia.

As news of her passing away was announced by Yash Raj Films, many celebrities took to social media to pay their tributes. Calling her a ‘great lady’ who was ‘intelligent, educated, warm and witty’, lyricist Javed Akhar shared how Pamela Chopra was also an exceptional person, who always contributed towards the script and music in her husband’s films.

“Today Pam ji the better half of Shri Yash Chopra has passed away . She was a great lady . Intelligent, educated , warm and witty . Those who like me have worked closely with Yash ji know about her contribution in his scripts and music. She was an exceptional person,” tweeted Javed Akhtar.

Ajay Devgn wrote, “My thoughts & prayers are with Adi, Rani, Uday and all members of the Chopra family in their hour of grief. RIP respected Pam Chopra Ji🙏 🕉️ Shanti”. Anushka Sharma also tweeted her condolences, writing, “RIP Pam aunty”.

Sanjay Dutt also took to Twitter to remember ‘Pam Aunty’ as he tweeted, “My heart is heavy with the news of Pamela aunty’s passing. Her impact on the industry and the lives she touched will always be remembered. 🙏🏻.”

Director Anil Sharma shared a beautiful picture of Pamela and Yash Chopra and wrote, “V v sad to hear about sad demise of mrs Pamela Chopra ji .. wife if shree Yash chopra ji .. my heartiest condolences to #adichopra #udaychoora #ranimukharji n entire @yrf RIP.”

 

 

Anupam Kher, who has collaborated with YRF on many films mourned Pamela’s death and shared how she was an important part of his years in Mumbai. He added that her smile was one of the beautiful gifts to him and he was lucky to have spend so much time with her. Kher, who lost best friend Satish Kaushik recently, also lamented how he is losing one friend at a time. ”

Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan actor Raghav Juyal also tweeted about Pamela Chopra’s death, as he wrote, “Deeply saddened to hear about the passing of Pamela Chopra, lovingly called as Pam Auntie. She was a primary driving force behind #YashRajFilms. My thoughts and prayers are with the Chopra family during this difficult time. May she rest in peace. #PamelaChopra Om shanti .”

In its social media post, Yash Raj Film tweeted that Pamela Chopra’s funeral took place on Thursday. “With heavy hearts, the Chopra family would like to inform that Pamela Chopra, 74, passed away this morning. Her cremation took place at 11 am in Mumbai. We are grateful for your prayers and the family would like to request for privacy in this deep moment of sadness and reflection,” the statement read.

 

Amaal Malik tweeted,  tweeted, “I remember saving money everyday to be able to record my songs at YRF Studios. I was about 17-18, and it was my first understanding of true love and companionship when I would see #PamelaChopra ji holding her husband #YashChopra ji’s hands and walking through their empire….”

Pamela Chopra was a frequent collaborator with her late husband and often was credited as the writer, costumes designer and singer in some of the popular YRF films.
