(Pic: Aishwarya/Instagram) After Alia Bhatt, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan has now shared a behind-the-scenes glimpse of her much-talked-about appearance at the Cannes Film Festival this year. The Guru actor’s first red carpet appearance had her in a white Manish Malhotra saree. The video also features Aishwarya posing with Manish and her team just before stepping out for herappearance.
In the clip, the actor is seen posing in the intricately designed white saree, paired with a jaw-dropping 500-carat ruby necklace. She looked breathtaking against the picturesque backdrop of the French Riviera. The video also offered glimpses of Manish Malhotra sketching and conceptualising Aishwarya’s outfit. It highlighted the intricacy and craftsmanship that went into creating the ensemble, including footage of artisans handweaving the saree.
Aishwarya shared the video set to the romantic track “Tere Bina” from her and husband Abhishek Bachchan’s 2007 film Guru. Coincidentally, Aishwarya also stirred up the internet with her Cannes appearance, where she sported thick lines of sindoor. It was during the filming of Guru that Abhishek proposed to Aishwarya.

Earlier, designer Manish Malhotra had taken to Instagram to share details of Aishwarya’s Cannes outfit. She wrote, “At the 78th Cannes Film Festival (@festivaldecannes), the undisputed icon of the Cannes red carpet, the beautiful Aishwarya Rai Bachchan (@aishwaryaraibachchan_arb), makes a striking return in a visual statement that honours Indian handloom—a meditation in ivory, rose gold, and silver: a handwoven Kadwa ivory Banarasi handloom #mymmsaree. The Kadwa brocade technique stands as a true testament to the unmatched skill of Indian weavers. Originating from the famed looms of Varanasi, this intricate method involves crafting each motif separately, often using multiple shuttles and supplementary threads.”
For her second red carpet appearance at Cannes, Aishwarya opted for a dramatic black and white ensemble designed by Gaurav Gupta. With this look, she channelled old Hollywood glamour and once again dazzled as she graced the iconic steps.
