Adipurush box office collection day 2: The Om Raut directorial minted Rs 140 crore on the opening day, and has now passed the Rs 200 crore mark.

The highly-anticipated mythological epic film Adipurush, directed by Om Raut, was released in theatres on June 16. Starring Prabhas, Kriti Sanon, and Saif Ali Khan, the movie had an impressive start at the box office, earning Rs 140 crore worldwide on its opening day. According to industry tracker Sacnilk, it collected Rs 65 crore on day two of release, across all languages in India. Adipurush is performing well at the Hindi box office as well, with earnings of Rs 37 crore across two days. The second-day gross in the Telugu states for Adipurush reached Rs 26 crore.

Adipurush has faced a lot of criticism and trolling since its release, particularly for its visual effects and dialogues. In Chhattisgarh’s Manendragarh-Chirmiri-Bharatpur district, a protest was held demanding a national ban on the film’s screening. However, despite the mixed reviews, the movie has still performed well at the box office. According to T-Series, the film made a gross worldwide total of Rs 100 crore on day two, taking its two day haul to Rs 240 crore globally. This is slightly ahead of Pathaan’s Rs 219 crore two-day gross.

Adipurush’s opening day haul ranks fourth in terms of gross worldwide box office collections. The top three movies on the list are RRR with Rs 222 crores, Baahubali 2: The Conclusion with Rs 214 crores, and KGF: Chapter 2 with Rs 164.5 crores.

The film, based on the epic Ramayana, features Prabhas as Raghava, Kriti Sanon as Janaki, and Saif Ali Khan as Ravana. With a reported budget of Rs 500 crore, the movie also stars Sunny Singh and Devdatta Nage in prominent roles.

The Indian Express’ film critic Shubhra Gupta gave the film 2.5 stars out of 5. A part of the review read, “You see Saif Ali Khan’s Lankesh tossing that one off, and it is an indication that Om Raut’s version of ‘Ramayana’ will be a series of clunky computer graphics, bathed in Bollywoodese. And that’s exactly what this nearly three-hour long film is.”
