Aamir Khan’s daughter Ira Khan says her ‘most complicated relationship’ is with parents: ‘Communication with my mother is slightly easier than with my father’

Aamir Khan’s daughter Ira Khan has opened up about her mental health on many occasions in the past, and in a recent chat, she shared how she navigated her relationship with her parents as she was going through a difficult time. Ira shared that while her parents have always been there for her, she finds it hard to open up to them, and that was one of the initial roadblocks that she had to overcome in her journey.

Aamir, who announced a hiatus from the movies in 2022 after the failure of Laal Singh Chadha, has spoken about his regret of not spending enough time with his family. And when Ira was asked about Aamir not being present during her childhood, and if that affected her relationship with him, she told India Today, “My relationship with both my parents is something that I’ve had to actively work on a lot. Because the relationship with your parents is the most intense relationship you will ever have.”

Ira then said that one’s relationship with their parents is the “most complicated relationship” they will ever have because “you care the most about what they say, so it will take the most, and it will also make you the happiest, both ways.” Ira said that because she was going through a lot with regards to her mental health, she was “forced to work on” her relationship with her mother and father.

She then spoke about her current equation with her parents and said, “I think right now my communication with my mother is slightly easier than with my father but I communicate with both of them as openly.” She then shared, “In my head, I have this thing that my father is busy even though he has always said, if you need me just call me.” Ira added that these days even her mother is busy as she is taking care of her parents. “In terms of opening up, I am equally close to both of them,” she said.

Ira also acknowledged the privilege that she comes from, and shared that she “fully understands why people get irritated with me and leave angry comments on my Instagram.” Ira, who is 26-years-old, is Aamir Khan’s daughter from his first wife Reena Dutta.
