‘Aamir Khan wants to know everything’, says fitness coach Shivohaam: ‘If we don’t stop you in time, you will end up becoming…’
Shivohaam recently shared his experience of working with Bollywood stars like Ranbir Kapoor and Aamir Khan, and their attitudes during training sessions.

Fitness coach Shivohaam has worked with various actors, including Amitabh Bachchan, Ranbir Kapoor, Ram Charan, and Aamir Khan. Recently, he shared his experience of working with these stars and their approach towards fitness. While explaining the necessity of focusing on primary goals, Shivohaam recalled training Ranbir Kapoor for the 2023 film Tu Jhoothi Mai Makkar, and working with Aamir for the film Talaash.
Speaking wtih Cyrus Broacha on his podcast, Shivohaam said, “For somebody who wants to lose weight, their priority should be weight loss and not gaining muscle. So, this will include diet, cardio, and weight training from a different perspective.” Citing an example, he continued, “When we were working with Ranbir (Kapoor) for Tu Jhoothi Mai Makkar, he wanted a beach body. When I started to train him, you couldn’t see any muscle on his body. He was thin. So, at that time, the focus was all about gaining muscle.”
He added, “Fat is nothing more than what is on top of the muscle. He was thin, so we had to do the weight training to build the structure. It was only eight weeks before the shoot that we started with the functional and crossfit to get rid of a little bit of the fat, and we worked on the diet. Because the structure was now there, we just had to sculpt it.”
When Cyrus joked jokingly asked Shivohaam if he ever yelled at Ranbir, the trainer said, “Of course not.” Shiv shared that he used to be a yeller, but over the years, he has changed. He said, “In the entertainment business, there can be days when you are shooting and lot of things are going on, but still, turning up for the training is one of the best things I have seen in all of these actors. They know what the priority is and they know what needs to be done.”
Shiv admitted that his clients’ energy levels are not the same on a daily basis, but there are always tricks that can be used to get them to work out. In the same conversation, he also recalled working with Aamir Khan, calling him a “curious” person. He said that there are two kinds of clients; the first kind just want to follow their trainers, and the second want to understand the reasons why they are being asked to do certain exercises.
“Aamir (Khan) loves to know why we doing what we doing. Some people don’t want to know. We first started working for Talaash. For that film, he wanted to be a cop so he just wanted to do crossfit. I taught him how to swim because there was a swimming scene. Surprisingly, he learnt very fast. But, him being him, said, ‘Shiv, why don’t we do…’ I told him, ‘Sir, someone very close to you told me that if we don’t stop you in time, you will end up becoming the coach and I will end up becoming the student.’ He laughed and said, ‘Okay, let’s do what you want to do.'”
