Laal Singh Chaddha, featuring Aamir Khan and Kareena Kapoor in lead roles, had its premiere on August 11 last year. After its release, the film did not enjoy a robust performance at the box office. Apart from receiving mixed reviews, the film also faced a challenge as #BoycottLaalSinghChaddha trended on X before its release. Despite unimpressive box office numbers, fans often take to social media to show their regret for not watching the film in theatres.
Helmed by Advait Chandan and scripted by Atul Kulkarni, Laal Singh Chaddha is an adaptation of the 1994 American film Forrest Gump. Although the film was produced with a budget of Rs 180 crore, it amassed a worldwide collection of under ₹90 crore within its initial week. Nevertheless, it claimed the title of the highest-grossing Hindi film of 2022 in the international box office arena, surpassing releases like Gangubai Kathiawadi and The Kashmir Files.
