Veteran actor Mushtaq Khan has opened up about Aamir Khan’s dedication to making every aspect of his films better, even scenes that weren’t centred around his character. Mushtaq shared that once, when Aamir wasn’t pleased with how a scene was shaping up in the film Akele Hum Akele Tum, he showed up at his house at midnight to discuss it.

Mushtaq remembered a scene with Aamir, Manisha Koirala, and Paresh Rawal. He played the lawyer of Aamir’s character in the scene, and there was one part that Aamir wasn’t happy with. In an interview with Bollywood Thikana, he said, “I did a film with him titled Akele Hum Akele Tum. In a particular scene, Aamir did not like a point that I said to the judge. He told director Mansoor Khan that ‘this point is not correct, this will weaken my case, let’s change the scene.’”

The director said, “‘Aamir, there is no time, and the writer is not here. Let’s do the scene.’ Aamir replied, ‘I am not satisfied with the scene, but ok lets do’.” Mushtaq continued, “But he was not satisfied. At 6 pm there was pack up and when I reached home, I got a call from Aamir Khan.”

The actor said that Aamir requested him to review the improvised lines, but Mushtaq suggested that he send the script to his house through a courier. Mushtaq shared that he had waited until midnight, thinking the scene might need to be postponed to the next day since nobody had come to deliver the script. However, just 10 minutes later, the doorbell rang. Upon opening the door, a man informed him that Aamir was waiting in the car along with the film’s writer, downstairs.

Mushtaq, who was living in a one-room-kitchen back then, invited Aamir inside, mentioning that his kids were asleep. Despite this, Aamir chose not to disturb them, instead opting to stand under a street lamp and read the revised script with him.

Mushtaq and Aamir also collaborated for films like Hum Hain Rahi Pyar Ke and Dil Hai Ke Manta Nahin among others.
