‘2 States’ collects Rs 38 cr in opening weekend

Alia Bhatt and Arjun Kapoor's '2 States' has passed the weekend test and the movie has collected a whopping Rs 38 crore in its opening weekend.

2 States movie review: When the going is good, both Kapoor and Bhatt, she more than he, rise above the film's flaws. He has a few good moments. But Alia Bhatt is a surprise. The movie had got off to a great start last Friday and managed to collect Rs 12.42 crore.  Tweeting the figures of the first weekend, trade analyst Taran Adarsh said the film is a ‘super hit’. (Read Review: 2 States)

The movie is the third biggest opening of 2014 after Salman Khan’s ‘Jai Ho’ and Ranveer Singh and Arjun Kapoor’s ‘Gunday’.

‘2 States’ had received positive reviews from critics, Indian Express critic Shubhra Gupta said Alia Bhatt was a surprise and in fact better than Arjun Kapoor.  ‘2 States’ is an adaptation of Chetan Bhagat’s novel of the same name.
