According to official data, 56.03 per cent of the total candidates were girls. The WBCHSE HS examinations, which began on September 8 and continued till September 22, were conducted at 2,106 centres across the state. The West Bengal Uchha Madhyamik question papers under the new system are designed to enhance analytical and writing skills. While semesters one and three feature multiple-choice questions to encourage reasoning, semesters two and four focus on short and descriptive answers to develop writing ability.

Of the total WBCHSE Class 12 HS top 69 students, only one is from the Commerce stream and the remaining is from the Science stream. No students from Arts are placed in the top 10 ranks.
As many as 10.4 per cent students have scored star marks in WBCHSE third semester results. Star marks are given to those who score 75 per cent and above marks. In the 90 per cent and above group, only 0.48 per cent of students are placed.

An estimated 6.6 lakh candidates took the WBCHSE Class 12 semester exams this year. Of them, 56.03 per cent were girls. According to the WBCHSE president, over 38 lakh OMR sheets were scanned this semester.
WBCHSE president Chiranjib Bhattacharya will likely announce the WB HS Semester 3 Ucchha Madhyamik results at a press conference at the council office, following which students can check their third semester marks online from 2 pm onwards from the official website.
Students who took the WB board third semester exams will be able to check and download the WB Class 12 semester exam results after 2 pm. The WB Class 12 semester results due to be published today on internet are for immediate information to the examinees, the board said adding that these cannot be treated as original mark sheets. The official marksheet will be issued by the respective schools.

The WBCHSE HS fourth-semester exam will be held from February 12 to 27 next year.
In the 2025 WBCHSE Class 12 examinations, a total of 4,73,919 students took part. Out of them, 4,30,286 students passed, yielding an overall pass percentage of 90.79 per cent.
The overall WBCHSE 2026 results from the two-semester evaluation will determine a candidate’s ranking and grade.
Semesters one and three in WB board HS exams feature multiple-choice questions to encourage reasoning, semesters two and four focus on short and descriptive answers to develop writing ability.

“The students, who passed the first and second semester exams of Class 11, took the third semester exams (of Class 12) under strict supervision,” said WBCHSE President Chiranjib Bhattacharya. He added that 122 centres were identified as ‘sensitive,’ and all electronic devices, including mobile phones, were strictly prohibited to ensure fairness in the examination process.
