Students wrote papers for enrollment in BTech and BPharm courses at 328 exam centres – including three centres in the northeastern region of the country, a senior WBJEE official said.

Candidates can check their results on the official website - wbjeeb.nic.in. WBJEE will soon start with a choice-filling and choice-locking process on its official website.

Based on the scores obtained in the WBJEE 2024, candidates will be able to apply for the counselling process. The board will declare the counselling dates soon, once the West Bengal Joint Entrance exam result is announced.

Around one lakh candidates appeared for the West Bengal Joint Entrance Examinations. Students wrote papers for enrollment in BTech and BPharm courses at 328 exam centres – including three centres in the northeastern region of the country, a senior WBJEE official said.

WBJEE 2024 counselling process will include online registration, fee payment, choice filling and seat allotment. Candidates need to register online separately for the counselling process, once dates and instructions are released. The seat allotment process will be done on the basis of rank and marks secured by the candidates.

The second rank holder Soham Das said he is preparing for JEE Advanced and wants to study computer science. 

The third rank holder, Sara Mukherjee, said she wants to study artificial intelligence and machine learning in the field of medicine. “I feel there is ample scope in AI and machine learning. This can make people’s lives easier especially in the field of medicine. I want to pursue these subjects after taking up computer science,” said Sara.

Md Sahil Akhtar, who topped WBJEE, told media persons that he used to study six-seven hours a day. “I am happy with this result. I had a feeling that I will feature in the top ten but never imagined that I would bag the first rank. I always wanted to study science and I want to pursue physics research and especially in Astrophysics,” said Akhtar

WBJEE Board chairman Malayendu Saha announced that Md Sahil Akhtar and Soham Das of Delhi Public School, Ruby Park, bagged the first and the second rank, respectively while Sara Mukherjee of Bankura Banga Vidyalaya secured the third rank. 

“A total of 1,24,919 candidates enrolled for the examination in 2023 out of which 97,524 appeared in it and 96,913 qualified. The success rate is 99.4 per cent. Of the students who qualified, 69,560 are from West Bengal,” said Saha.

Candidates, who have passed their HS or Class 12 exams before 2024 or are appearing for the same can apply. There are different criteria as per the course one is applying to appear for. For the same one has to check the official website.

The Metro Railway Kolkata ran special services for the WBJEE course aspirants in the Blue line (Dakshineswar to New Garia) from 8:30 am till 9:40 pm, a Metro railway statement said.

In 2022, the pass percentage for WBJEE was 98.5 per cent, and students from the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) dominated the top ten merit list of WBJEE with the first two ranks going to students from the central board.
