WBBSE Madhyamik Result 2024: 7.65 lakh students pass, Kalimpong best performing district

WBBSE West Bengal Madhyamik Result 2024 Declared: The West Bengal Board of Secondary Education (WBBSE) on Thursday announced the Madhyamik (Class 10) results in a press conference held at 9 am. The scorecards are uploaded at the official websiteswbbse.wb.gov.in.

The WB Madhyamik results are declared on the 80 day after the conclusion of the exam. The overall pass percentage is 86.31 per cent. Cooch Behar’s Chandrachur Sen is the Madhyamik exam topper.

Samyapriyo Guru of Purulia Zilla School scored 692 marks (98.86 per cent), securing the second rank. The third position was shared by three people — Udayan Prasad of Balurghat High School, Puspita Basuri of New Integrated Government School (Ilambazar) and Nairit Ranjan Pal of Narendrapur Ramakrishna Mission – who scored 691 marks (98.71 per cent) each.

A total of 9,12,598 appeared for the Madhyamik exam of which 7,65,252 passed. As many as 4.03 lakh boys and 5.08 lakh girls appeared for their Madhyamik exam. Kalimpong district is the best performing with 96.26 per cent pass rate.

Among the candidates from Kolkata, Somdatta Samanta of Kamala Girls School was among the top 10, securing 684 marks (97.71 per cent). Samanta was among 18 candidates who scored the same marks and secured the 10th rank.

The overall pass percentage in 2023 was 86.15 per cent, with Devdutta Majhi emerging as the topper. Last year, the state saw a decline in the number of total registrations, which dropped from 10,98,775 in 2022 to 6,98,628 in 2023. The reason behind this, as per Ramanuj Ganguly, President of West Bengal Board of Secondary Education, was students’ hesitation after Covid pandemic.

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee congratulated the successful candidates. “My best wishes and congratulations to all the students who passed the secondary examinations. My congratulations to your parents and teachers. May your coming days be prosperous, I pray,” she said on X.
