The Uttar Pradesh State Board of High School and Intermediate Education annouced the board exam results, revealing a pass percentage of 89.55% for Class 10 and 82.60% for Class 12.

Students have to collect their marksheets from their respective school authorities. The online results are provisional.

• About 180 prisoners lodged in various jails in 30 districts of Uttar Pradesh, including Ghaziabad, Agra and Lucknow, passed the Class 10 and Class 12 board exams.
• According to the results, 89 of the 91 prisoners, who appeared for the Class 10 board exams, passed while 87 of the 105 inmates, who gave the Class 12 papers, cleared the exams.

This time, the overall pass percentage for High School (Class 10) has decreased slightly from 89.78% in 2023 to 89.55% this time. However, the class 12 percentage has increased from 75.52% last year to 82.60% this time.

Even in Class 12th results, girls have outperformed boys by 10.64 per cent, as boys scored 77.78 per cent and girls scored an overall pass percentage of 88.42 per cent.

In Class 10 results, girls scored an overall pass percentage of 93.40 per cent, and boys scored 86.05 per cent. Girls have outperformed boys by 7.35 per cent

In 2022, the UP class 10 exams took place from March 24 to April 12, resulting in an overall pass percentage of 88.18%. Boys achieved a pass percentage of 85.25%, while girls outperformed with 91.69%. 

In 2021, due to a surge in Covid cases, the UP board exams were canceled. However, students were evaluated based on an alternative marking scheme, resulting in a pass percentage of 99.53%.

In 2020, the pass percentage for class 10 exams was 83.31%, marking an improvement from the 80.07% pass percentage recorded in 2019.

The UP Board refuted allegations of Class 12 Biology and Mathematics question paper leaks on WhatsApp. According to UP Board Secretary Dibyakant Shukla, the board denied any such occurrences. Shukla cited reports stating that the question paper was circulated on a WhatsApp group named ‘All Principles Agra’ around 3:10 pm by an individual named Vinay Choudhary.

“By then the examination had been conducted in 1 hour and 10 minutes and all the candidates were giving the examination peacefully in their rooms at their respective examination centres, due to which the sanctity of the council examinations has not been affected at any level,” Shukla said in a press note.

"The general public is informed that the result of the High School and Intermediate examination of the year 2024 will be declared on April 20, 2024 at 02:00 pm from the Board of Secondary Education, Headquarters Prayagraj.

The exam results can be seen on the website of Secondary Education Council upmsp.edu.in and NIC website upresults.nic.in," Shukla tweeted on April 19 night.

Over the past five years, female students have consistently outperformed their male counterparts in the UP Board Class 10 exams, demonstrating an upward trend in their performance each year:

• In 2023, girls surpassed boys with a remarkable pass percentage of 93.34%.

• In 2022, while boys achieved a passing percentage of 85.25%, girls exceeded the 90% mark with 91.69% of them passing the matric exam.

• In 2021, both boys and girls achieved impressive pass percentages of 99.52% and 99.55% respectively.

• In 2020, out of 12,81,842 registered girls, 11,18,914 passed, resulting in a pass percentage of 87.29%. Similarly, out of 14,90,814 registered boys, 11,90,888 passed.

• In 2019, female candidates saw a notable increase of 5.17% in pass percentage, achieving 83.98%, while male candidates recorded a pass percentage of 76.66%.

• In 2018, girls outperformed boys with a pass percentage of 78.81%, whereas boys achieved a pass percentage of 72.27%.

The UP Board Chairperson is set to declare the results at 2 pm today. Following the announcement, the High School exam results will be accessible on the official websites, upresults.nic.in and upmsp.edu.in. Additionally, candidates can check their results at education.indianexpress.com

With the UP Board results set to be announced today, many parents and students will be anxious about their matric or inter results. However, they should remember that whether they receive their expected result or not, this is not the end of the road. 

Students failing in more than two subjects will be deemed unsuccessful in the UP Board 10th exams, while others have the opportunity to appear for compartment exams. Additionally, students expecting low marks in the UP Board intermediate exams can apply for the supplementary exam after the results are declared.

However, due to the large number of students, these websites may experience heavy traffic. In such cases, candidates can register on indianexpress.com, and any updates or results will be communicated to them via email or mobile phone.

In 2023, the overall pass percentage for Class 10 was 89.78 per cent, while for Class 12 students, it stood at 75.52 per cent. The number of candidates appearing for the matric exams last year totaled 31,16,487, whereas for the class 12 exams, the figure stood at 27,69,258 students. These figures highlight the substantial participation of students in both exams.

Official figures from the UP Board revealed that a total of 55,25,308 candidates registered for the year 2024, with 29,47,311 registered for the high school examination and 25,77,997 for the intermediate examination. Additionally, 94,802 examiners were appointed to evaluate 1.76 crore answer sheets for the high school examination, while 52,295 examiners were assigned to evaluate 1.25 crore answer sheets for the class 12 exams.

Last year, girls outperformed boys, achieving a pass percentage of 93.34%. Priyanshi Soni from Sita Bal Vidya Mandir Inter College, Sitapur, secured the top position in the exam with a remarkable score of 590 out of 600 marks.

Alongside the UP Board Class 10 results, UPMSP will also announce the names of the toppers along with their respective school names and districts. Following this announcement, individual student results will be uploaded on the official websites - upmsp.edu.in and upresults.nic.in

Last year, the UP Board exams for Classes 1 to 8 took place from March 20 to 24, and the results were announced on March 31. Following the regulations, students from all council schools and recognized institutions under the Uttar Pradesh Basic Education Council were promoted to the next grade. This directive aligns with the provisions of the RTE Act.

Students failing in more than two subjects will be deemed unsuccessful/ fail in the UP Board 10th exams, while others have the opportunity to appear for compartment exams. Those anticipating low marks in the UP Board intermediate exams can apply for supplementary exams following the results' announcement.

The candidates need to get a minimum of 35 per cent marks to pass in the examination. The board will conduct the compartmental examinations if a student fails in one subject or two.

As the UP Board results are scheduled for today, social media is abuzz with requests urging parents not to pressure or become upset with their child if the result does not meet their expectations.
