The detailed timetable for the March session will be released soon on the board’s official website — tgbie.cgg.gov.in.
As of now, there is nothing on the official website on the same; however, the announcement was made in a press briefing by Intermediate Board Secretary S Krishna Aditya. The board exams for the first-year students will be conducted from February 25, while for the second year, the exams will be held from February 26, reports The Hans India.
All theory exams will be held in a single session from 9 am to 12 Noon. Practical examinations are expected to begin in the first week of January.
For the first time, first-year students in Telangana will be required to take external practical examinations, marking a departure from the earlier system where only second-year students participated. This move underscores the Telangana Board of Intermediate Education’s (TGBIE) renewed focus on fostering experiential learning and skill development across both academic years.
In a parallel development, Secretary Aditya has announced a major overhaul of the intermediate syllabus—the first such revision in over a decade. The update will target core science subjects, including mathematics, chemistry, botany, and zoology. The revision process will be spearheaded by expert committees composed of university professors and will be aligned with the NCERT framework to ensure national-level academic consistency. The initiative is scheduled to commence in the first week of November.
Beginning with the 2026–27 academic year, the Telangana Board of Intermediate Education (TGBIE) will introduce activity-based internal assessments across all subjects, marking a shift toward more experiential and continuous evaluation methods. Under the revised structure, external examinations will carry 80 marks, while the remaining 20 marks will be allocated for internal assessments.
In a move to expand academic choices, the board will also launch a new stream that integrates accountancy, commerce, and economics, offering students a more interdisciplinary approach to business studies. Meanwhile, students preparing for the upcoming board exams can start paying their examination fees at their respective colleges starting November 1. A detailed timetable and official fee notification are expected to be released soon.
