The Sardar Vallabhbhai National Institute of Technology (SVNIT) in the year 2023 failed to reach under top 100 overall category of the National Institute of Ranking Framework (NIRF). Established in 1961, the Institute was not included in the top 50 engineering institutes in the NIRF 2023 rankings. The NIRF 2024 is yet to be released by the Ministry of Education.
Established as a regional engineering college in the city, currently, the Institute offers six undergraduate programmes in Btech such as civil engineering, chemical engineering, computer science and engineering, electrical engineering, electronics and communication engineering and mechanical engineering.

Observing its past NIRF trends, SVNIT failed to get a rank under overall category. It was once in NIRF 2021 that the Institute achieved 98 spot. Not only this but under engineering category of the NIRF, the Institute started with 58 rank in 2019 and improved its positions till 2021, however it again reached to 58 in 2022 and in NIRF 2023 rankings the Institute was placed at 65.
SVNIT has achieved one of the lowest rankings in NIRF 2023 when compared to last five years trends. It offers three integrated (five-year MSc) and at least 19 Masters programmes in technology and doctoral degrees under eight distinct categories. The Institute has inducted two new MTech programmes in instrumentation and control, construction technology and management as well.
