As Indian B-schools aim for global rankings, embracing innovation, sustainability, and global partnerships will be key to driving their success, Garcia told
Santiago Garcia, vice president of the prestigious Kedge Business School which has campuses in France and other parts of the world, is in the Capital to announce a collaboration with Vijaybhoomi University. He emphasised that for Indian business schools to secure positions among the top global institutions, they must adapt their curricula to evolving global trends and pursue international accreditations.
Dr Garcia, a known authority in European management education, outlined strategies to boost the global competitiveness of Indian B-schools, focusing on curriculum innovation, international collaborations, and the importance of accreditation.
He highlighted the rapid integration of emerging technologies, especially artificial intelligence (AI), as a crucial factor in modern business education. “Most schools are racing to embed AI into their curricula, ensuring students are AI-versed by graduation. This is essential for their relevance in a fast-changing business world,” he said. Beyond technology, he stressed the need to incorporate disciplines like sustainability and social impact, reflecting global priorities.

Sustainability, in particular, is a pressing concern. “Indian cities face distinct challenges like pollution. Business schools must equip students with knowledge and tools to address these issues, contributing to academic excellence and societal needs,” Garcia added.
Further, he underscored the importance of global partnerships, advocating for joint programme designs and faculty exchanges. “Opening up to the world through collaborations with international institutions is critical. It is not about building from scratch but leveraging existing local expertise while introducing global perspectives,” he explained.
Accreditation, according to Garcia, plays a pivotal role in establishing global benchmarks. Kedge Business School, being triple-accredited (AACSB, AMBA, EQUIS), belongs to an elite one per cent of business schools worldwide. “Accreditations set common standards and enable peer evaluations, helping institutions measure their performance against global best practices,” he noted.
Garcia also emphasised the need for adaptability in both teaching methods and institutional frameworks. “We must build a culture of flexibility and quick response to global events. This includes equipping students with the skills to navigate geopolitical shifts and economic disruptions,” he said.

He also highlighted curriculum innovation, global collaborations, and adaptability as key priorities for Indian institutions to achieve global recognition, focusing on alignment with emerging trends, fostering international partnerships, and preparing for a rapidly changing world.
Indian B-schools like the IIMs are already well-regarded internationally for their rigorous academics and the success of their graduates in leadership roles globally. “The world holds IIM graduates in high regard, recognising not only their academic excellence but also their exceptional work ethic, capacity for innovation, and determination to succeed. Their impact is evident globally, not just in Europe or North America, but across various industries and sectors. Many have risen to leadership positions in prestigious organisations, including top-tier companies and academic institutions. IIM alumni exemplify the drive and perseverance of Indians to transcend boundaries and challenge the status quo, earning widespread admiration and respect,” Garcia remarked. However, he urged other institutions to follow suit by embracing global standards and practices.
As Indian B-schools aim for global rankings, embracing innovation, sustainability, and global partnerships will be key to driving their success, he said.
