Tamil Nadu RTE Admission 2025: The Tamil Nadu government is set to release the RTE Admissions 2025 notification. This development comes after the Government of India released the state's RTE reimbursement funds, following directives from the Madras High Court and subsequent proceedings in the Supreme Court of India. As per the official notice, the application will start between October 6 and 17. Admissions will be conducted online through the official RTE portal. Additionally, for this academic year, admissions under the RTE scheme will also include children who are already enrolled in the entry-level class of the school. A dedicated 10-day online admission window has been set aside to regularise eligible children who have already been admitted under the RTE quota. RTE Admissions 2025: Key dates On October 6, 2025, the admission notification will be issued. The next day, schools are required to upload data on the total seats filled in entry-level classes as of September 30, 2025. By October 8, 25 per cent of RTE seats will be identified and made visible through the school login portal. The details of all eligible children—including Aadhaar, date of birth, address, income and community certificates—along with the parent declaration as per Government Order No. 66 (dated April 7, 2017), must be uploaded by October 9. Between October 10 and 13, schools will display lists of eligible and ineligible applicants on their notice boards, stating reasons for any rejections, while allowing parents the opportunity to submit any missing documents. The final list of eligible children will be published on October 14. If fewer than 25 per cent of seats are filled, eligible children will be tagged under the RTE quota in the EMIS portal by October 15. When applications exceed the 25 per cent quota, random selection will be conducted on October 16 after admitting priority category candidates, with selected names displayed immediately, followed by the selected children chosen through the random selection process will be tagged in the EMIS system on October 17. According to the official notice, priority admission will be granted to children belonging to specific categories, including orphans, children affected or infected by HIV, transgender children, differently abled children, and children of scavengers. These groups are given special consideration to ensure they have better access to educational opportunities under the admission process.
