‘No discrepancy, no mistake’: Assam Education Minister on HS result mark sheet of student

Assam Board HS 2024 Result: In the Assam Higher Secondary Education Council (AHSEC) result announced on May 9, several students have alleged that the marks obtained by them are not proper and required reevaluation. However, the Education Minister Ranoj Pegu in a post on the microblogging site X said that the Assam board HS marks are all correct and there is no discrepancy.

Responding to a media report that asked the Education Minister to intervene, the minister in the social media post said: “AHSEC has checked the Answer Script of the student and reconfirms the marks reflected in her Mark Sheet.  There is no discrepancy and no mistake.”

The local newspaper report alleged that one “bright” student from Sonitpur district’s Itakhola has scored unexpectedly low marks in the Assam board Class 12 result. The marks, as per the report, obtained by the students are English – 35, Assamese – 47, chemistry – 10, physics – 11 and biology – 8. The marks field in math is reportedly left blank.

This year, the AHSEC HS exams were held from February 12 to March 13, 2024. As many as 2,73,908 students appeared for the Assam board HS exams, and of them, 2,42,794 students have passed. The overall pass percentage this year stood at 88.64 per cent where girls have outperformed boys across every stream this year as well.
