KVS Class 1 admission process begins, here’s answers of all FAQs

Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan (KVS) has begun the registration process for admission to Class 1. Parents and guardians can fill the application form at the official website – kvsonlineadmission.kvs.gov.in. 

KVS will publish the first list of provisionally selected students and waitlisted candidates on April 20. The admissions will commence on April 21. A second list will be announced on April 28 if seats remain vacant. A third list will be issued of May 4 if seats remain vacant.

Here are answers to some frequently asked questions.

What is the age limit for KVs 1st class?

A child seeking admission in Class 1 must be six years old as on March 31 in the academic year in which admission is sought. Any child born on April 1 should also be considered. Registration process will conclude on April 17.

How can I get admission to KVS in Class 1?

A parent/guardian can follow these steps and register their child for admission

Step 1: Visit the official website – kvsonlineadmission.kvs.gov.in

Step 2: Click on the registration link

Step 3: Enter the details such as the name of the child, date of birth, email id, phone number and more

Step 4: Click on the register tab and pay the fees

Step 5: Download the application form for future reference

What is the selection process in Kendriya Vidyalaya for Class 1?

In Kendriya Vidyalaya, preference is given to children of transferable and non-transferable Central government employees and children of ex-servicemen. It will also include children of foreign national officials who come on deputation or transfer to India on invitation by the Government of India.

Preference will then be given to children of transferable and non-transferable employees of autonomous bodies or public sector undertakings or institutes of higher learning of the Government of India.

Children of transferable and non-transferable employees of autonomous bodies, public sector undertakings or institutes of higher learning of state governments.

Children of foreign nationals who are located in India due to their work or any personal reasons. The children of foreign nationals will be considered only in the case there are no children of Indian nationals on the waiting list for admission.

What is the single girl child quota in KV?

In case seats are vacant after June 30 of the academic year, the Deputy Commissioner of the region has the power to allow admissions up to the prescribed strength as per priorities in admission up to July 31. There is a single girl quota as well under special provisions.

“Single girl children in Class 1 and from Class 6 onwards subject to a maximum of two per section in Class 1 and two per class in Class 6 and onwards. It includes twin girl children also,” read the admission guidelines.

In the case of twin girls, it will be treated as one admission and their names should be written on one slip while drawing the lot. In case the applications are more than the number of allotted seats, a maximum of two per section in Class 1 and similar in Class 6 and onwards, the admission will be granted based on priority category. If one category has more applications, all such applications will be taken together and the list of candidates will be prepared through a draw of lots.
