IIM Calcutta witnessed participation of firms from all major sectors including consulting, FMCG, Finance and others (Image via X/@IIM_Calcutta)The Indian Institute of Management Calcutta (IIM Calcutta) has achieved 100 per cent placement for summer internships in 2026, for its 62nd MBA batch. The institute has secured over 520 offers for 465 students from 154 firms within just seven days of placement activities.
According to the institute, the entire placement process was completed in a hybrid mode. The placement drive saw participation from 183 recruiters overall, including several first-time participants alongside long-standing recruitment partners. In its statement, the institute said that the structured cluster-cohort model, along with policies such as the ‘dream offer’, helped ensure an optimal fit between students and recruiters”, making it, as the institute described, “a win-win for both sides.”
According to IIM Calcutta, the summer placement season recorded an average monthly stipend of Rs 1.85 lakh, while the median stipend stood at Rs 2 lakh per month.
The highest domestic stipend reached Rs 4.5 lakh per month, and the highest international stipend went up to Rs 6 lakh per month.
The top 5 percentile of students secured an impressive Rs 3.4 lakh per month on average, reflecting the strong market demand for IIM Calcutta’s MBA talent.
According to the notice from IIM Calcutta, the summer placement season saw offers from a range of sectors including consulting, finance, FMCG, manufacturing, pharmaceuticals, software, and technology, according to IIM Calcutta. Apart from legacy recruiters who tapped into the institute’s pool of students, multiple new domestic and international firms participated for the first time.
According to the institute, its vast and influential alumni network played an pivotal role in strengthening recruiter engagement and ensuring seamless placements. The sustained relationship between alumni, faculty, and corporate partners added momentum to the process, helping achieve the single objective of 100% placements across all cohorts.
Commenting on the achievement, Professor Ritu Mehta, Chairperson of Placement Activities at IIM Calcutta, said, “The performance of the 62nd batch MBA students resulted in yet another year of excellent summer placements. We are grateful to the recruiters for continuing to believe in our students and trust our academic processes.”
In the previous session, for the 61st MBA batch, IIM Calcutta achieved complete summer internship placements, with all 475 students securing positions and receiving a total of 564 offers from 175 companies across sectors.
According to the institute, the median stipend stood at Rs 2 lakh per month, while the average stipend was Rs 1.89 lakh per month, both marking record highs for IIM Calcutta at the time. The highest domestic stipend reached Rs 3.67 lakh per month, whereas international recruiters offered stipends as high as Rs 6.75 lakh per month.
