After the Class 10 Gujarat Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board (GSHSEB) result was declared Thursday, twin sisters Archi and Arvi Bhavsar could not hold their joy back.

Both dressed alike, Archi and Arvi were busy accepting good wishes from their family members and friends. While Arvi scored 95.77 percentile, Archi got 68 percentile. Their father works with an online car research and sale company and their mother is an anganwadi worker.

Students of Nest Public School in Nirnaynagar in Ahmedabad, the twin sisters prepared together for their Class 10 board exams. Sharing their ambitions, Arvi said she wants to choose science in Class 11 and aspires to become an IT engineer while Archi wants to take up commerce and eventually become a fashion designer.

On the other hand, even before the Class 10 result was declared, Pari Jain, who secured 99.19 percentile, had her goal set — like her two elder sisters, she too wants to become a doctor.

The elder sisters — Srujal (23) and Pranjal (27) — too were among the toppers in their respective secondary examinations, said their father Narendra Jain, an electronics engineer.

“Though I never pushed my daughters to pursue medicine as their career, we had always guided them to be self-dependent. With an engineering background, I realised that medicine and civil services are more socially respectable professions for women,” senior Jain said.

While Srujal has just completed her MBBS from NHL Municipal Medical College, Ahmedabad, the eldest completed her MD in paediatrics from SVP Institute of Medical Sciences and Research, Ahmedabad. All three are students of Rajasthan English Medium School in Ahmedabad.

Taking inspiration from the sisters, many girls in the community have come forward to take medicine as a profession, said Narendra, who originally hails from Rajasthan.
