Bihar Governor Ram Nath Kovind lights the ceremonial lamp on the occasion of ACAD 2016 launch at DPS Patna on Wednesday.
A Clue-A-Day (ACAD) 2016, a daily online crossword challenge for school students, was launched on Wednesday by Bihar’s Governor Ram Nath Kovind at DPS Patna.
Into its third edition, the game has two new features this year. First, it has been thrown open to the Indian students around the world. The other, there will be a winner for every month who will be felicitated by the organisers. The school with the most number of students on the Champions’ Gallery every month too will be honoured.
The Governor said: “It is heartening to see that here is an effort which provides a platform for an ideal pastime, combining fun and learning. It is true that any educational system that does not take care of extra-curricular activities falls short of being holistic. An event like ACAD will surely help in providing young students with adequate skills to withstand stiff competition in a hard fought job market later in their lives.”
He added that the organisers deserved a word of praise for initiating this unique contest which has today become popular among school students all over the country.
Launched in 2014, the contest aims to popularise crosswords and, in the process, help young students develop lateral thinking, analytical skills and vocabulary, the sine qua non of excellence.
