CUET UG 2024: The English and Foreign Languages University uses the Common University Entrance Test (CUET) scores to admit candidates to its undergraduate (UG) programmes. The English and Foreign Languages University official website — efluniversity.ac.in — has information on the eligibility criteria for admission, scholarships they provide, facilities the university has and more.
The varsity admits students in UG courses on the basis of CUET UG scores. The courses include BA (Hons/ Research) Journalism and Mass Communication, BA (Hons/ Research) English, BA (Hons/ Research) Arabic, BA (Hons/ Research) Chinese, BA (Hons/ Research) German, BA (Hons/ Research) Japanese, BA (Hons/ Research) Korean, BA (Hons/ Research) Persian, BA (Hons/ Research) Russian, BA (Hons/ Research) Spanish, BA (Hons/ Research) Italian, BA (Hons/ Research) Performing Arts, Humanities, BA (Hons/ Research) Digital Communication and BA (Hons/ Research) French.
Apart from the programmes mentioned above, the university offers numerous undergraduate, postgraduate, PhD, certificate and diploma, postgraduate diploma in teaching of English (PGDTE) and foreign languages: part time mode.
This year, the English and Foreign Languages University received multiple applications for its BA programmes in the second year of the entrance exam. The eligibility criteria to appear in the CUET UG 2023 exam and get admitted to EFLU was Class 12 or equivalent qualified with 50 per cent aggregate marks with English as one of the subjects.
While only BA (Hons/ Research) Journalism and Mass Communication and BA (Hons/ Research) English are offered at the Shillong Campus and only BA (Hons/ Research) English is offered at the Lucknow campus, several programmes including BA (Hons/ Research) in English, Arabic, Chinese, French, German, Japanese, Korean, Persian, Russian, Spanish, Italian, Performance Arts, Humanities and Digital Communication are offered at the Hyderabad campus.

The university has well-maintained hostel facilities (gender-wise). These hostels offer basic amenities including beds, study tables, chairs, cupboards and fans to the hostel residents at an affordable and subsidised rates.
The following hostels are present at the Hyderabad campus: Basheer Men’s Hostel, Akka Mahdevi Women’s Hostel, Mahlaq Bai Chanda Women’s Hostel, Tagore International Women’s Hostel and Amrita Pritam International Women’s Hostel.
There are rooms in these hostels that are allotted for distinct purposes including for visitors – cum – TV room, sick rooms and luggage room. Also, the hostel residents are extended with the facilities of washing machines, geysers, refrigerators and supply of purified drinking water. Rooms are reserved for VHC and PHC in the ground floor, a statement on the EFLU website said.
The English and Foreign Languages University was formerly called the Central Institute of English and Foreign Languages [CIEFL]. The university was founded in 1958 and was created by an Act of Parliament and came into being on August 3, 2007. The EFL University has three campuses — while the headquarter is in Hyderabad, the two others are in Lucknow and Shillomg. ELFU Lucknow has been functioning since 1979 and the one in Shillong since 1973.
