CUET UG 2023: The National Testing Agency (NTA) will soon release the results for the Common University Entrance Test, Undergraduate (CUET UG) 2023. Once released, students will be able to check their scores at the official CUET website — cuet.samarth.ac.in.
Since the University of Delhi has made admission on the basis of CUET UG scores mandatory, students have often complained that they are unable to get a seat in the varsity, in cases they don’t score enough for chosen colleges. To avoid such situations, experts have suggested them to add as many college preferences in application forms as necessary.
“Delhi University has been very upfront about it that it is important to select as many colleges as possible in your college preference, and same goes for courses. If students choose only a couple of institutes in their application form, they can miss out on getting admission this year if the CUET UG score doesn’t work in their favour,” Poonam Verma, Principal of Shaheed Sukhdev College of Business Studies, told indianexpress.com.
Can I add college preferences later?

Once the CUET UG result is declared, the NTA will give students another chance to add college preference in their application form. This will help students get admission in colleges of their choice, according to the CUET UG score.
“We release ‘stimulated rank’ list once the result is released, which helps students to get a certain idea of which colleges can they apply to based on that score. With the help of this, students should analyse and select all the combinations to benefit maximally from the allocation rounds. Students are motivated to select a maximum number of Program plus College combinations to facilitate their probability of getting allocations as per the CSAS rules,” Haneet Gandhi, dean admission of Delhi University told indianexpress.com.
If students do not add preferences, they can lose a year due to the non-availability of the combination of their preferred course and the availability of the college.
Whether or not students get into their chosen college depends on their CUET UG score and the number of seats available in that college. This means that if a student has only selected only three DU colleges and he/she doesn’t get into any of those due to limited seats or a low CUET score, then he/she will have to wait another year to get admission. That is why the DU authorities have been advising students to apply for as many colleges as possible and avoid wasting a whole year,” Verma added.
