NTA CUET UG Amdit Card 2023 Updates: The National Testing Agency (NTA) will soon release the admit cards for the Common University Test (CUET) 2023. Once released, students will be able to download their admit cards from the official website — cuet.samarth.ac.in.

As per the data released by the NTA, this year over 16.85 lakh candidates have registered for the entrance exam, which is 4 lakh more than its debut year numbers. Additionally, the number of female candidates has also increased by nearly 50 per cent, while the number of male candidates has gone up by 34 per cent.

“We have also seen an increase in the number of participating universities. In 2022, it was 90, but in 2023 it rose to 242. This significant rise indicates that CUET-UG is becoming a popular option for admissions in UG programmes,” UGC Chief said.

CUET UG 2023: Exams from May 21 to 25 cancelled in Jammu and Kashmir

The National Testing Agency has cancelled the exams from May 21 to 25 to be held in the union territory of Jammu and Kashmir. A total of 87,309 candidates registered from the UT. The decision has been taken in view of needs of the candidates and creating temporary centres in Kashmir. Exams will be conducted from May 26 onwards. Check all details here

CUET UG 2023: 3697 candidates appearing from Manipur

After reviewing the law and order situation in Manipur, the NTA has decided to conduct the examination from May 29 onwards. A total of 3697 candidates are appearing for CUET UG 2023 from Manipur. NTA contacted the candidates via telephone and asked for their preferred city. Some candidates opted for other cities, the option for a change of centre for candidates from Manipur is still available.

A total of 1,78,630 unique candidates have registered from Jharkhand out of which, 52,793 will be appearing at 19 centres across the state from May 21 to 24. And, 77,797 candidates will be appearing at 14 centres across the stat from May 25 to 28. The official notice read, "though all measures have been taken for allotting the candidates to their preferred cities, there are some candidates who have been allotted to a city in a neighbouring state. However, we have announced the city information slip in advance to give them time for making travel arrangements."

CUET UG 2023: NTA releases clarification on centres in Jammu and Kashmir

The NTA has issued a clarification stating that for exams to be held from May 21 to 24, a total of 18,012 students will be appearing at 12 centres in Jammu and Kashmir including:-

3 in Jammu
5 in Srinagar
2 in Baramulla
1 each in Samba and Pulwama

For exams to be held from May 25 to 28, a total 44,425 candidates will be appearing at 15 centres across the union territory. Some candidates have been moved to other state. "However being sensitive to the needs of the candidates and to ease the access of the students of Jammu and Kashmir, the NTA is exploring the possibility of creating a temporary centre in Srinagar. This will enable NTA to bring back most of the candidates to the State. However, the number of candidates being extremely large, and some candidates may still have to take the CUET (UG) outside the State," read the official notice.

CUET UG 2023: CUET Topper Anousha Parashar shares her CUET experience

Anousha Parashar was distressed when the government announced the implementation of CUET last year. She felt that the effort she had put in for board exams will not reap anything. She had already given two board exams in one year and didn’t want to sit for another paper. However, it was unavoidable as only through CUET she could get admission to her dream college. The National Testing Agency has not yet released the admit card for the Common University Entrance Test Undergraduate 2023 (CUET UG 2023). The exams will begin from May 21 and conclude on May 31. "In some cities, the count of registered candidates is very large, so the CUET (UG) – 2023 examination will be extended to 1 and 2 June as well as 5 and 6 June . Moreover, buffer days of 7 and 8 June are also being kept as reserve days," read the official notice.

CUET UG Admit Card 2023 Live: Female candidates increase by almost 50%

Out of the 13.99 lakh students who will be appearing for CUET UG 2023, 6.51 lakh are female compared to 4.43 lakh female aspirants in 2022 — an increase of nearly 50 per cent. This year, there are 7.48 lakh male applicants, a 34 per cent increase from last year’s 5.56 lakh male candidates.

CUET UG Admit Card 2023 Live: Over 41% increase in registrations

This year, a total of 16.85 lakh students have registered for the entrance exam, out of which 13.95 lakh paid the application fee and successfully submitted the form. This year’s registrations saw an increase of 4 lakh candidates as in 2022, a total of 12.5 lakh students registered and 9.9 lakh had paid the fees. There has been an increase of 41 per cent in the number of students who will appear for the exam.

A similar trend from last year is the states which have received the highest number of registrations. Like 2022, the top three states with the largest number of applications are Uttar Pradesh, Delhi and Bihar. Among the five Southern states (Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Kerala, Tamil Nadu and Telangana), the highest number of applications were received from Kerala. This year, there has been a significant increase from the number of candidates from Jammu and Kashmir. In 2022, a total of 13,021 students took CUET UG, which increased to 82,655 this time. There has also been a considerable jump in the number applicants from North-Eastern region (Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, and Sikkim) from 59,208 in 2022 to 77,365 in 2023 — an increase of 31 per cent.

Archita Kaur from Johrat says the Common University Entrance Test helped her in getting admission to her dream college and preferred course. She secured 800 out of 800 in CUET UG 2022 and 97.6 per cent in the CBSE Class 12 board exam.

"English was the most ambiguous because there is no definite syllabus. Therefore,  I went through the syllabus and regularly practiced reading comprehension, poetic devices, synonyms and antonyms. Reading comprehension was a major chunk of the question paper. In my CUET paper, there was three reading comprehension, which had a total of 15 sub questions, reframing of jumbled sentences, poetic devices, synonyms and antonyms," she says.

Asked about how CUET will provide an edge to students over the board exam marks for UG admissions, Kumar said, "In the past, students used to be under stress to secure more than 95 per cent marks in class 12 board examination to get admission in the university of their choice.

"With the introduction of CUET, the stress on them for securing very high marks in the one and only board examination stands reduced. Marks given by different boards vary widely because of the typology of questions and the scoring pattern. These things will now be standardised under CUET," he said.

CUET UG Admit Card 2023 Live: Class 12 boards still important, says UGC Chief

"Board exams at Class 12 level not to become redundant due to introduction of CUET for UG admissions," UGC Chairman Jagadesh Kumar said.

"The basic eligibility criterion for entrance into universities remains unchanged which is that a candidate must have passed the class 12 examination from any recognised board or equivalent. In fact, marks in grade 12 for eligibility will vary across programs and universities," Kumar told PTI.

"Moreover, the board examination is an 'achievement test' whereas CUET-UG is a 'selection test'. Hence, board exams at the class 12 level are not likely to become redundant," he said.

"Last year, we were recovering from Covid, and most universities were working hard to restore the academic calendar. This time, we announced the CUET schedule on December 15. NTA will conduct CUET UG  from May 21 to May 31 and the results will be out in June. Therefore, the admissions can be done in July and the universities can start their academic sessions by August 1, 2023. This year, we will recover the academic calendar to its original form," the UGC Chief told indianexpress.com.

CUET Admit Card 2023 Live: Has NTA rescheduled CUET UG exam?

No, the NTA has not re-scheduled the CUET UG 2023 exam. However, it has extended the exam dates and utilised its reserved dates as in some cities the number of registered candidates is “very large”.
