Vice-President Jagdeep Dhankhar and his predecessor M Venkaiah Naidu ended up sharing the stage at a book release event on Sunday due to a series of events. Former Tamil Nadu Governor and retired IPS office P S Ramamohan Rao, whose memoir Dhankhar and Naidu released, said he took so long to write the book and then get it released that Naidu, who had agreed to release it when it was completed in 2018, had left office.

It was Naidu who then got Dhankhar on board. The delays ended up being a “blessing in disguise” as two Vice-Presidents graced the occasion instead of one, the author said.

Foundation Day

THE INDIRA Gandhi National Centre for the Arts (IGNCA) celebrated its foundation day on Sunday for the first time. Earlier, it was being celebrated on November 19, the birth anniversary of former prime minister Indira Gandhi. Her son Rajiv Gandhi inaugurated it on that day in 1985. One of its senior officials said: “On November 19, only one division of IGNCA was founded, whereas its trust deed is dated March 19.” So, on November 19, the foundation day of a division was being celebrated every year but now for the first time the foundation day of IGNCA is being organised.
