The party workers have been asked to start campaigning for candidates of INDIA bloc ally Samajwadi Party as the Congress is not contesting on any of the seats.

The Uttar Pradesh unit of the Congress is upbeat about party general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra’s electoral debut from Wayanad. Congress leaders in the state are getting “too many calls” from party workers who want to visit Wayanad and campaign for “didi (Priyanka)”.

Most party workers and leaders have been told to stay put in UP as they will serve no purpose in Wayanad because they can’t speak the local language Malayalam. Another reason the party leadership doesn’t want its workers to leave UP is the upcoming bypolls in nine Assembly constituencies in the state.

Focus On Harmony

WITH THE Opposition using “mandal” as a counter to the BJP’s “kamandal” politics, the RSS these days is using every platform possible to drive home its message of “social harmony”.

On Tuesday, at the Sangh Diwali Milan programme, RSS publicity in-charge Sunil Ambekar addressed a gathering of mediapersons and emphasised that the Sangh’s “social harmony” project was not related to the party but was the responsibility of society. He urged everyone to reach out to those working in their houses and offices and wish them on Diwali.

The RSS “social harmony” project aims to unite the Hindu society across the boundaries of caste by bringing them together in festivals and celebrations.

Back On Track

The Delhi High Court has finally begun the much anticipated process of designating senior advocates. Since two of the three judges in the selection panel — Justices Rajiv Shakdher and Suresh Kait — were recently elevated as Chief Justices of other High Courts, the committee had to be reconstituted, delaying the process.

It is learnt that the HC has scheduled interactions with over 200 lawyers over four days. The interviews, likely to happen in groups, will start mid-November after court hours.
