Trinamool Congress leader and Transport Minister Madan Mitra on Friday once again attacked the State Election Commission and its chairperson Mira Pande. It is not possible for me to kill her (Pande). But I pray to God that she quits her job soon, Mitra told mediapersons. Accusing the poll panel of being a stooge of the CPM and the Congress,Mitra said the SEC has hatched a conspiracy so that the Opposition could win the elections. He also blamed Pande for the violence and transport woes faced by people in the state.
Sattar could not vote
CPM leader Sattar Mollah,who was arrested Wednesday in connection with the murder of a Trinamool Congress worker in Bhangar,could not vote in Fridays elections after the Calcutta High Court,which was hearing his plea,disposed of his petition,saying there was not enough time to implement the courts order. Justice Sanjib Banerjee was hearing Sattars plea urging the court to allow him to vote while alleging that his arrest was part of a political conspiracy. Sattar was arrested along with five other party workers,but police did not seek his custody.
