Sources said the fire was brought under control after one and a half hours. (Express photo) A major fire broke out in Humsafar Express near Valsad Railway station on Saturday afternoon. The high-speed train was halted at the Valsad Railway Station where flames were put out, fire officials said.
No casualties were reported in the incident.
The fire broke out in the brake van coach of the express train when it was covering its journey between Tiruchchirappalli Junction in Tamil Nadu to Shri Ganganagar Junction in Rajasthan on Saturday at around 2.20 pm. The fire extended to the B1 coach but all passengers were reported to be safe.

On getting intimation from Railway authorities, a team from the Valsad Nagar Palika Fire Department reached the railway station. The fire-affected coaches were detached from the train. All the passengers were immediately deboarded and provided with refreshments, officials said.

Officials said that the firefighting team brought the blaze under control after one and a half hours. The brake van and B1 coaches were replaced, allowing the train to continue its journey.
Videos of the coaches in flames were shared on social media by locals.
Western Railway PRO Thakur further said, “All passengers are safe and were taken care of. They were later allowed to continue their journey.” Help desk services were also set up at Surat and Valsad railway stations.
