The Surat District Education Officer (DEO) Thursday forwarded the names of 19 students who were found involved in alleged malpractices in Class 10 and 12 examinations for further action to the Education Department.
Of the 19 students involved in malpractices, there are 13 Class 10 students of which seven were from a single classroom. Two Class 12 science students and four students from the Commerce batch were also allegedly found cheating.
“We have taken statements from the students who were found cheating. All the students first denied the offence. Later we showed them the CCTV footage after which they admitted to the act and apologised. We have also taken the statements of the classroom hall supervisor. It is up to the state education department to decide (further course of action) and we will implement the instructions,” Surat DEO Dr. Deepak Darjee said.
The report was prepared after examining CCTV footage submitted by different schools. The DEO had summoned all the students and hall supervisors for inquiry.
