At least seven more persons were killed in rain-related incidents in flood-affected districts of Saurashtra and dozens of villages in Junagadh remained cut-off as parts of the region continued to reel under flood for the fourth consecutive day.
Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel on Friday took part in an aerial survey of the affected areas. He flew to Junagadh and held an aerial survey of Ghed, a coastal plane spread across Junagadh and Porbandar district. He also took part in an aerial survey of adjoining Gir Somnath district, another district affected by the flood.
Later in the afternoon, he held a meeting in Junagadh to review the situation. Chief Secretary Raj Kumar, Additional Chief Secretary (Revenue) M K Das, Secretary in charge of Junagadh, Manish Bhardwaj, Relief Commissioner Alok Pandey, local government officers of Junagadh and local elected leaders attended the meeting.

“Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel gave instructions to immediately survey damaged crops and household belongings in rain-affected areas and to provide government assistance as per norms at the earliest. In view of representations that hay of maldharis (cattle herder) has been either drenched or been washed away, the CM instructed forest department and concerned officials to provide hay in affected districts,” an official release from the government stated.
