Gujarat Agriculture Minister inaugurates school building constructed by Multi Commodity Exchange in Jamnaga
Addressing students and locals, Patel praised MCX and Project Life, a Rajkot-based NGO for constructing the building.

Agriculture Minister Raghavji Patel inaugurated a government-run primary school’s new building constructed by the Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX) as part of corporate social responsibility (CSR) in Sachana village of Jamnagar on Saturday.
Addressing students and residents of Sachana village in Jamnagar taluka of Jamnagar district, Patel praised MCX and Project ‘Life,’ a Rajkot based non-government organisation (NGO) for constructing a new building for the government primary school in that coastal village.
“MCX and ‘Life’ deserve praise for constructing this school (building) in a needy area. Education is the base of comprehensive development of any society. With an aim to increase the literacy rate and make the (school) drop out ratio zero, the government is taking a number of steps, including organising Shala Praveshotsav, Gunotsav, constructing new class rooms and new schools and recruiting enough number of teachers,” an official release quoted the Minister as having said while addressing the gathering.
The construction of the new school building has been funded by MCX as part of its CSR activities. The MCX has routed its CRS funds for this school through Project ‘Life’ which has been working, among other things, for improving primary education facilities in remote areas of Saurashtra-Kutch region. This was the 103 school building built by Project Life after securing donations from various individuals and organisations.
Addressing the ceremony, PS Reddy, managing director and chief executive officer of MCX appealed parents to provide their children good education which, he said, would prove a huge asset for the children. “Teachers are the foundation for the career of children who are here. Children’s education is something which doesn’t get stolen by somebody or get diminished over time. Parents can give not money but give them education. That itself is an asset. That’s what I have been telling everybody. Whether it’s a girl-child or a boy, we must give them enough education. In fact, if you educate especially a girl child, she will educate everybody at home,” Reddy said adding, “I am immensely grateful to my organisation for being associated with this kind of activity.”
The new school building has 12 class-rooms, a prayer hall, a toilet block and a playground secured by a compound wall. Project ‘Life’ said the new school building has been constructed at the cost of around Rs1 crores.
