The tea party by Aman Setu School had a message along with an appeal for the society
While very few will forget the name Alice in Wonderland, quite a few might find it difficult to answer a quiz about the story. Reason — not many of us have time to dig into the old bookshelf and read those stories, which were once our favourite.
However, yet another tea party by Aman Setu School hosted at Koregaon Park on Friday, took the guests for a joyride of the wonderland. Being one of the Mom and Me series, the party had book reading session and a lot more to offer.
Yadu Sankalia and Rooki Dadachanjee, actors, took the guests through the lanes and by-lanes of the wonderland by their expressive reading of the story. Though the event was a fund-raiser for Aman Setu School,it also witnessed a lot more happening and being planned for the children of the school. Mad hatters hat competition and tea was also organised by Ravish Arora’s Red Carpet Culinary Academy during the event.
It is not only about fund-raising,we also get to spread a message about Aman Setu and the reason behind its inception. As the name suggests the school not only aims to impart value education to children from nearby villages but also bridge the widening gap between people from varied socio-economic-cultural background, says Madhavi Kapur, principal,Aman Setu.
We cannot be in ivory towers running elite schools and feel good about it. The whole purpose of education is to eliminate the problematic things from the society and that requires bringing people together irrespective of their different backgrounds. Most of us are busy chatting on the Internet or talking over the phone, but the truth is we do not converse or communicate at a deeper level, where we could share ideas and work on it. The party is an attempt to provide a platform for the same, adds Kapur.
The school organised its annual sports day on Saturday, which witnessed a gamut of activities by the children of school. The lawn, which was the venue for the party was decorated according to the theme- Alice in Wonderland, and had dormouse kept in kettles, and Cheshire cat hanging from the tree. Apart from this the mad hatters competition witnessed people coming in different types of funky theme hats specially designed by them. A quiz on the story was also conducted.
