Woman held for forcing minor into prostitution

The social security cell of the Crime Branch on Tuesday arrested a Bangladeshi national for allegedly trying to force a minor girl into prostitution.

Police rescued the minor girl— a native of Bangladesh — from the custody of Salma Idris Shaikh (28),a resident of Star Building in Budhwar Peth. They said it was the girl’s husband,Tusar Kadir Shaikh,who handed her over to Salma. They have filed a case against Shaikh and Salma.

The ninth Pu La Utsav Tarunai will be held from December 16-19 at the New English School grounds,Raman Baug. Organiser Virendra Chitrav said entry would be free.
