Weikfield: jammers for vehicles in ‘no-parking zone’

The traffic police on Tuesday applied jammers to about 40 four wheelers of employees of companies at Weikfield IT Park in Viman Nagar as they were allegedly parked in the “no-parking zone”.

“We had received complaints from residents that many employees at the IT Park were parking their vehicles on either side of the road, causing congestion. As the companies in the IT park provide a pay-n-park system many employees park their vehicles outside in the “no parking zone”. We have taken action against about 40 vehicle owners today,” said Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Manoj Patil.

An employee, however, said the parking space available in the company premises is not adequate. “Employees prefer pay-n-park but only 20 per cent of the cars can be accommodated there. Rest have no option but to park on the road,” he said.

“There was anger among the employees because neither the company nor the police instructed us that cars should not be parked on the road. We have never seen a “no parking” board on the road where we park the cars. It was only after an argument that the police assured to put up boards and allow parking on one side of the road,” he said.
