Water meters: Keskar flays civic body

The project to install water meters for each property has been pending for long,but the Pune Municipal Corporation has been unable to resolve complaints of the exorbitant charges in properties where meters have already been installed.

“There are 35,415 properties that have water meters installed and the pending dues are Rs 232 crore. The complaints on exorbitant charges levied on the properties was to be resolved,but nothing has been done so far,” said corporator Ujjwal Keskar.

The Pune Municipal Corporation managed to recover charges of Rs 48.39 crore in 2008-09,but the pending dues are yet to be received,he said.
