Walmik Karad’s property tax dues of Rs 1.55L paid

Apart from five flats and seven shops in Pune city as alleged by BJP MLA Suresh Dhas, Walmik Karad also owns two flats in Pimpri-Chinchwad area. Both the flats are in Wakad area.
One of the flats is in the name of Karad and his wife while the other is solely under her name. One flat has an area of around 1,900 square feet and another around, 750 square feet. The collective price of both the flats could be above Rs two crore, officials said.
Karad had failed to pay property tax arrears worth Rs 1.55 lakh on the flat jointly held by him and his wife, to the Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation. The PCMC property tax department had served them a confiscation notice.
However, by 4 pm on Wednesday, the family made the payment online.
“We had served the confiscation notice to Karad and his wife. The notice was served in November. The total arrear was Rs 1.55 lakh. However, the amount was paid online. We don’t know who paid the amount,” PCMC Assistant Municipal Commissioner Avinash Shinde told this paper.
Regarding the other flat owned by his wife, property tax dues are only Rs 6,000 which are for the current year, he said.
