One often sees performers on the road who walk on ropes and thrill passers-by with their skill in gymnastics. Director Sunil Waikar and Aishwarya Films are capturing their lives in their next film,Dombari which is based on a Marathi novel,Bhook (Hunger) written by Anand Jadhav. “It is a real-life story. These people spend their entire lives wandering from one place to the other. They have to starve if they don’t perform. I have tried to maintain that reality in the film rather than shifting the focus on fiction,” Waikar said. He described it as a touching story of a family of such performers. “While performing,a girl falls down from the rope. The story revolves around the efforts and struggle of the family to give the girl proper medication and treatment,” he said. Dombari has actors like Madhu Kambikar,Milind Shinde,Sanjay Khapre,Hemangi Kavi,Dada Pasalkar,Medha Ghadge and Mohini Kulkarni. Three families who perform these stunts are also featured in the film.
