Two who raped,robbed 58-yr-old get 10-year RI

According to the prosecution,on September 23,2008,around 10 am,Sagar and Dhamale approached her when she had gone to the nearby canal to take bath and wash clothes. The duo,who were under the influence of drugs,first beat her,snatched her ring,chain and Rs 1,380 and then raped her. When she raised an alarm,passers-by Gautam Mohol,Shankar Yerwale and Krishna Shantaram Dhotre rushed to the spot and nabbed the duo.

They were taken to Nehru Stadium police chowky where the victim identified them and got back her cash and jewellery. Additional Public Prosecutor Chandrakiran Salvi examined eight witnesses to prove the guilt of the accused. “Medical evidence proved vital in the conviction,” Salvi said.

Earlier in the week,additional sessions judge N P Dhote sentenced eight persons to five years of rigorous imprisonment and fined them Rs 5,000 for armed robbery at a jewellery shop in 2006 on Jejuri-Morgaon Road. They had looted 9 kg gold ornaments after injuring the shop owner,his father and brother.

Maloji Rama Kale (23) of Rajegaon village in Daund taluka,Mohan Dagdu Bhosale (29),Subhash Bhaskar Kale (19),Laxman Ujnya Shinde (40),Suresh Shahaji Kale (20),Tanaji Sadashiv Dharmadhikari (23),all residents of Osmanabad district,and Shashikant alias Kalya Dattatray Bhosale (29) and Chinglya Gyandev Bhosale (26),both of Ahmednagar district were sentenced under Section 395 (punishment for dacoity) of the Indian Penal Code.
