Two more H1N1 deaths, toll 24

A 50-year-old man and a 21-year-old pregnant woman died of complications arising out of H1N1 virus infection.

A 50-year-old man and a 21-year-old pregnant woman died of complications arising out of H1N1 virus infection (swine flu) pushing up the number of deaths registered by the Pune Municipal Corporation to 24 this year. The man died at Poona hospital and the woman at Noble hospital.

Sonabai Waghmode of Karjat tehsil in Ahmednagar district, in her eighth month of pregnancy, complained of fever and chills on February 16. She developed breathlessness on February 19 and underwent a C-section on February 19 to deliver a female child at Ahmednagar. She was admitted to Noble hospital in Hadapsar on February 21 and died on February 22. Krushna Harihar from Baramati reported fever, cough and breathlessness from February 15.

He was a diabetic and suffered from hypertension too. He had been taking medications for these conditions for the past five years. On February 18, he was admitted to Poona Hospital. He died of septic shock related to H1N1 virus.
