Two more H1N1 deaths in city

Two women,including a 25-year-old who was pregnant,who were under treatment for swine flu died in the city taking the total number of casualties to 43 till Sunday evening.

Two women,including a 25-year-old who was pregnant,who were under treatment for swine flu died in the city taking the total number of casualties to 43 till Sunday evening.

Radha Narayan Prajapati from Padmavati,who was pregnant,and 35-year-old Pramila Sudam Kolte from Daund died on Sunday.

Prajapati was admitted to Sassoon hospital on August 17 after she showed symptoms of the disease.

“Her throat swabs were taken and she was administered Tamiflu after she tested positive. She had a history of fever,cough and breathlessness and was also in the high-risk group. So she was continued to be kept at the hospital. When her throat swab was taken for the second time,she tested negative. She passed away on Sunday at 1.45 am,” said Dr Ashok Mehta,joint director of state health services.

“Kolte was taken to Noble hospital on September 10 after she started showing swine flu symptoms. She was later admitted to Sassoon hospital. Kolte had acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) and rheumatic heart disease (RHD). She died around 4.30 pm on Sunday,” Mehta said.

A total of 19 persons tested positive for swine flu and 378 suspected swine flu patients were put on Tamiflu on Sunday,Mehta said. “Seventy-four persons were admitted on Sunday,while 44 were discharged.

As of now,158 swine flu patients are in hospital,of which 36 are positive and 122 are suspected cases. Nine patients are on ventilator,” Mehta said.

Till date 3,87,815 persons have been screened,of whom 7,662 were screened on Sunday. While 17,362 persons have been given Tamiflu till date,2,401 have been discharged.
