One of Europes leading string quartets,The Auer is set to acquaint
Puneites with some Hungarian tunes
Their tunes are seeped in their tradition. And despite the damage done to the evidence of early Hungarian music life by historical turmoil,the adoption of foreign musical idioms for them never involved rejection of indigenous patterns. For Hungarian musicians are those in love with their culture. Showcasing the tunes from the land will be Auer Quartet whose performance in the city will have melodies from archetypes of Hungarian music filling the air.
Bartok,Kodaly and Lajtha,the fathers of Hungarian music,will leave a mark on the minds of music lovers in the city when Auer Quartet will perform its compositions. The programme is organised by Pune Music Society in association with the Hungarian Information and Cultural Centre.
Formed in 1990 by four students of Budapest’s Ferenc Liszt Academy of Music,the Auer Quartet today registers itself as one of the leading quartets in Europe. Recognition of the ensembles exceptional qualities came from winning international competitions as well as innumerable performances across the globe. The ensemble chose the name Auer in honour of the world-famous Hungarian violinist and pedagogue Leopold Auer,legendary violin player of the world has names like Jascha Heifetz,Nathan Milstein in his student roster. We are really proud to carry his name and make it more and more wellknown world wide, says Vilmos Olah The quartet has Vilmos Oláh on first violin ,Gábor Berán on second,Csaba Gálfi on viola and Ákos Takács on cello.
