Tomato growers have asked the agriculture universities and research institutions to help them grow a special variety of high-yielding crop,with low cost of production.

S S Magar,state president of the tomato growers association said,“the growers are trying a direct tie-up with companies for processing of the tomatoes,but in this scenario,we need a higher minimum price.” He was speaking at the college of agriculture where researchers on tomatoes are trying to promote a three-way relation between research institution,growers and the industry. A special variety of tomato specially for processing would ensure sustained production,he said.
