With gorgeous models setting the runway ablaze for top designers,Pune fashion week gets a glamorous kick-off

It was an evening filled with glamour and glitterati. The first ever fashion week in the city- the Pune Fashion Week received a grand kick-start on Friday with top models setting the ramp ablaze for designers- Nishka Lulla,Seema singh,Moushmi Sanas and Archana Kochhar at Hotel Westin.

With her young,vibrant,fresh and colourful creations,it was designer Nishka Lulla who enthralled the audience with her unique collection comprising of youthful chic outfits. With a perfect amalgamation of laces,fabrics and frills,her collection was a Bohemian line comprising chic dresses and tunics with prints,panels and colours. “It’s a colourful happy line with mirror work embellishments, borders and tassels. It’s meant for girls who like to dress up in a free-spirited manner. It is a spiritual line with floral prints,tribal look and a style that has the feel-good factor,” said Lulla. Talking more about her collections was actor Neetu Chandra,the showstopper who said,“Nishka has designed for my forthcoming film Rann. It was a wonderful experience to flaunt her designs on the ramp.”

With 36 designs on display,it was designer Seema Singh whose creations inspired by the Moghul princess made a grand walkthrough. “This is a spring summer collection and that is the reason I preferred to use a lot of white that signifies purity. I like fabrics that fall and that’s how georgettes and chiffon find place in my creations,” said Singh.

From drapes to Indo- western and from Jaipuri robes to half sarees,designer Moushmi Sanas’s collection was a perfect amalgamation of fashion and comfort and modernity along with ethnicity. “This is one of the best collections that I have ever worn,” said Pooja Chopra who walked the ramp for Sanas.

After having showcased her creations on Indian and international runways,it was designer Archana Kochhar who displayed her rococo collections at the Pune Fashion Week. With eye-catching choreography by model- guru Lovell Prabhu,Kochhar’s collection was a lyrical presentation of the bygone French opulence and rich Indian heritage. From Indo- Western salwar suits to gown-like lehengas and light net sarees teamed with blouses this collection made the perfect closing sequence for day one.

The event was attended by creme de la creme of the city.
