There has been a minor European invasion in poha-uppit-khichdi land. In a city populated by consummate foodies,breakfast at select eateries,restaurants with seating,or road-side stalls,has long been a ritual . “I have always loved eating the first meal of the day at tapris around my locality. I love the taste of the sweet chai ,and the home-made idli s and chutney ,” says Shreya Sai,a city-based researcher. However,in the past few years,eateries with a decided European culinary bent have mushroomed around the city. English breakfast was for long considered the liet motif of star hotels and restaurants. But now regular restaurants such as Peters Pan in Kondhwa and WHAT’S THE NAME the recently-opened outlet on FC Road are challenging this trend by enticing breakfast lovers a taste of traditional English dishes at affordable prices.
“I was surprised to find a variety of waffles at some restaurants around (can you specify the place/area) ,” says Karan Majumdar,a student. Peters Pan’s breakfast spread has waffles,baked beans,pancakes,French Toast,and a variety of omelettes on the menu. Skips Cafe in Aundh has been popular for its English breakfast for at least a couple of years now. With some mean scrambled eggs and toast,sausages,and baked beans on its breakfast platter,it attracts a good number of foodies in the morning.
Terttulia on Lane 6 is much loved for its bistro like ambiance. Look at its menu,it reflects a totally dedication to eggs and bread. Cheese,ham,arugula,bacon and more combine in perfect harmony here for Breakfast Bagels,Eggs Benedict and Eggs Florentine. Eatmosphere in Wanowari is another student-friendly place that serves an English breakfast platter without burning a hole in its visitors’ pocket. Yolkshire in Kothrud stocks up on an smorgasbord of egg specialties,while Linger On on Baner Road teams up its pancakes and eggs-to-order offerings with some flavourful Earl Grey.
