Neil Lapalikar took home two titles and Lavina Chawla emerged champion in the girls section in the PYC- Rupee Bank Cup All India Under-14 national ranking tennis tournament.
Lapalikar,a student of Class VII of DAV Public School,lifted a memorable double crown. He trains at the Hemant Bendre Academy and won his first career title stopping the winning spree of qualifier Koustubh Devkar of the Nandu Rokade Academy at PCMC 6-2,6-0.
The event is sponsored by Rupee Cooperative Bank,organised by PYC Hindu Gymkhana and being played on their courts,said a press release.
Second-seeded Kanishka Chawla a 8th std student of the Saint Annes School playing on her home courts toppled topseed Sangli’s Mahima Omkar 6-2,6-4 to claim the girls under 14 finals crown.
In the doubles Lapalikar paired with Vidit Thakkar to put up a good performance to defeat Aditya Deshpande and Yash Lele 6-4,6-3;
The prizes were given away by Mr Nitin Kotwal director,Rupee Cooperative Bank,Kumar Tamhane and Atul Ketkar of the PYC,the release said.
