After a warm start to 2025, Pune’s minimum temperature dipped below 10 degrees Celsius for the first time on Saturday morning. The Automatic Weather Station (AWS) at Haveli recorded 8.7 degrees while the Shivajinagar AWS recorded 9.6 degrees Celsius, marking the first single-digit temperature in 2025.

With the northern winds unable to enter the heartland due to the presence of moisture, the minimum temperature of Pune and its surrounding regions had risen above 15 degrees Celsius. Successive Western Disturbances — moisture-laden winds which bring snow and rain to the northern parts of the country — had led to northerly winds being unable to enter the state. And presence of moisture due to easterly or southeasterly winds had led to higher night temperatures.

The presence of a new Western Disturbance has led to the present dip in temperature. Most places in Pune district have reported temperature dip of 1-2 degrees Celsius. Haveli’s AWS recorded the lowest at 8.7 degrees Celsius. The stations at Shivajinagar, Baramati, Shirur and NDA also reported single-digit figures. Other parts of the district have reported temperatures between 10 and 12 degrees Celsius.

But IMD has forecast a 1-2 degrees Celsius rise in temperatures in the next three-four days. Clear skies with likelihood of haze in the morning has been forecast for the next few days.
